How to change a broken upper ball joint on a 1992 dakota?

1992 dodge dakota 4x4... upper ball joint came apart with the shaft and nut still attached to the spindle and the upper part of the ball joint still attached to the upper A-arm how do i get them out to get a new ball joint installed? please help

The upper part still in the A frame is probably a press in. That means you will need a hydraulic press to remove it. If you don't have a press, the easiest way to remove it is to take the a-frame off and have a repair shop press it out. While you are there, have them install the new joint in the a-frame. To get the bolt out, loosen the nut, and remove it with a ball joint extractor. These come in numerous varieties, so just remember to follow the instructions provided with the tool. If the socket in the a-frame won't come out, pick up an a-frame at a salvage yard.
