I have a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus and I was wondering if it is possible to change just front left ball joint, or if I would have to replace the entire upper control arm

you have to buy the whole upper a-arm(all one piece)

yes, and Autozone has the ball joint tool and you can borrow from them for free..
im pretty sure that you rplace the whole control arm, i belive it comes as 1 peice
