How do you change a ball joint on a 91 Ford Taurus station wagon?
Need to change the right front ball joint on our 91 Ford Taurus station wagon. Can anyone give detailed instructions on how to do this? I understand that we may have to take the part, once removed, to a shop to have the old ball joint hammered out and the new one put in, but would appreciate instructions on what to do before and after this point - please include the tools we will need.
Thanks!

Is there an easy way to change the ball joint on my 1986 Ford Mustang?
Does anyone know an easy way to change the ball joint on an 86 Ford Mustang? I've got the stands and spring compresser if needed, and undoing the ball joint from the spindle doesn't look like much of a problem. I have to do this in my driveway while battling the Canadian winter. I really just want to know if there's an easy way to pop the old ball joint out, and then press the new one back in without having to remove the control arm or using specialty tools.
Anyone got any ideas?

Is there an easy way to change the ball joint on my 1986 Ford Mustang?
Not for sure, but here in the States, Auto Zone and Pep Boys will print out the step by step procedure when you buy the parts.
I hope this helps. If not, then you might want to purchase a Haynes of Chilton manual for this car.
This is the tool you need, ball joint press. Parts stores might have one for loaner. http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/AP-鈥?/a>loss of control in hands does anyone know

How do i change the ball joints on my 1990 Ford Bronco?
Not today has the right idea. A good way to put them back in is with a big C-clamp to press it back in (if you don't buy a ball joint press kit).
How do i change the ball joints on my 1990 Ford Bronco?
You will need a couple sockets one bigger for the bottom and one smaller for the top and a large clamp or hammer. use the smaller socket to %26quot;push%26quot; the ball joint out into the bigger socket underneath .
You will also need a 3rd size to %26quot;push%26quot; the new one in with.
The outside size of the socket has to be perfect or a little smaller to fit through the knuckle holes.
Buy the ball joints first, then take them to Sears and find out what size sockets will fit the top rim and the bottom rim of the ball joint and one bigger (to catch the ball joint comming out. It's got to be big enough to set the biggest diamiter of the ball joints base into compleatly.
The book will tell you you need a press, I have always beat them in/out with a mall or clamp and a little grease on the rim.

A screw up here could cause a wreck and maybe cost you and/or your loved ones lives! It is not a really difficult job but should be done by someone with experience or someone with experience to help you! Good luck!!!!desktop issue hair tips

I own a 2004 F350 4X4I have worked on cars & trucks b4, how hard is it to change upper & low ball joints?
Not a backyard mechanic job if you don't have a lift and the special tools.
I own a 2004 F350 4X4I have worked on cars %26amp; trucks b4, how hard is it to change upper %26amp; low ball joints?
It has torsion bars, so its just a matter of getting the spindle off and knocking the joints out of it, and pressing the new ones in. And as a tip-most discount parts stores will rent the press out. And if you are going to all this trouble, i'd recommend Moog balljoints, NOT the one most of the discount parts stores sell. if the box doesn't say Moog -DON'T install them, even if the parts guys say they are made by Moog and just boxed under a different name. they are inferior quality parts.
